It's about time+part 1

Good morning sunshine! Or, the whole world for that matter. Haha. Yes, I know, it's been too long. However, I have been, still am and will be 'BUSY' (take note of the inverted commas) and will blog when I'm free + there's somthing worth blogging about. But, most, if not all my friends don't update anymore so I decided to MAKE A CHANGE. Haha. Ok ok, down to business.

Friday night, after having a refreshing basketball training, I bathed and was wearing my pyjamas while my mom was getting ready for a night out(bear in mind, she never does) and I bid(bed, bud??) her goodbye. It was after 10 then and I planned to watch tv till I got sleepy.

I think I'm sick of all this formality. Haha,I'll 'talk now'.

Okay, anyway, she asked me whether I wanted to go with her, and I was well.. intruiged. My dad asked me to go 'protect her' and so I changed and went. Haha. You all don't know where we're going yet huh?

Driving along, mum was like " You think they'll let you in? A lot of things give your age away (hint hint like ms ng. haha). Your wet hair, no makeup, minimum accesories and baby face. And braces!" HAHAHA.

Guess what?

She was wrong.

Waiting outside, I studied the place. There was a banner outside, saying 'dress to impress', strictly no this and that. And must be 21 and above, valid ID etc. When I saw that, I laughed, you should be able to guess now right? Hahaha.

Walking in, blasting music nearly deafened my ears and the smell of smoke entered my nose, down my bronchus, bronchi and alveoli... ok ok. Haha. Colourful light rays shone on the disco ball and the place was cramped. Bottles of beer on table tops and girls dressed, well, you can imagine, haha and people dancing, chattting etc.

My mum and I headed to a corner and she texted her friend, asking where she was. Later, we headed through a door to a more open air place where a live band was playing.
I just lost the blogging spirit and I need to bathe. Haha. Till then.

interschool

PHEW! its finally over..

it's been real fun, although jubilee ground was way too small for the 53 schools participating, if every school's athletes were as many as tunku putera/putra's, maybe it'd be enough! haha, they only sent 10 ppl...-.-

well, im sure every single athlete did their best, never gave up and trained their asses...... hard. they all deserve a pat on the back and "u did a great job" :D

oh yeah, we shouldn't forget the coaches too!
cikgu jerry, cikgu lee, cikgu azyzy, cikgu kho and last but not least....
cikgu anthony goh!
we owe almost everything to them, haha. thanks cikgus.
i'm sure they're all proud of us as i think we DID make them proud :)

one thing, we all got sunburnt...well at least we all turned soooooooooo tanned, omg, you should see the different tones of skin we have, due to the freaking hot sun and singlet..:$

the most obvious case is alan from international, ahah. he's BLACK.

but to me, it was all worth it, the everyday training, cramps and pains, SUNBURN and etc. whether you won a medal or not, the experience and memories were definitely great and irreplacable.(plus we got to skip school and get away with it, HAHA)

we earned a number of medals, definitely much more compared to last year's..erm...8? haha
we also won a prize-3rd overall in Girls A.

fact: we were actually tied with yi zhong in the points for that category...but but but..
we won more gold medals than them! MUHAHAHAHA. so we got the prize instead..haha

i met some new friends too, fun n nice ppl i hope to c again next sports meet :D

so thats all i have to say about this year's interschool, it was fun n tiring, but overall enjoyable..

btw, im going to interdivision :P

talk about being long winded

when you hear songs on the radio unlike "oh hot damn, this is my jam.." but instead "gong xi gong xi gong xi ni ya",
when you smell your neighbor aunty's heavenly pineapple tarts in the oven and the annoying electric mixer doing its noisy job,
when you see red lanterns and "fu" stickers hung in chinese convenient stores,
when your parents ask for your help that other night to help put in those brand new, nice smelling notes into ang paos,
when you go to the Spring for last minute shopping for clothes, shoes and food and drinks,
when you hear everyone in class inviting everyone else to their open houses and explaining how to get to their own houses,
when you follow your parents to the ATM to withdraw splendid cash,
when you receive cards from relatives and friends wishing your family a prosperous new year,
when you start to worry about the clothes you bought earlier last year, whether you could still fit in them and moreover whether you could still find them!
when at night, you dream of those glorious food you'll be stuffing yourself with,
when you secretly compete with your siblings to see who receives the biggest amount of money in ang paos,
when you anticipate the lion dances in front of your grandpa's house on the first day,
when you search crazily for your ho lo chim, cards and fire crackers for "certain reasons",
when you and your family actually tidy the house for once,
when you go to the airport numerous times to welcome your brother from Singapore, sister from Australia, aunt and family from Sibu,
when you mentally plan out the houses to visit on the 1st day and look forward to friends' open houses,
when you paint the fences, your brother clean those mossy and dirty floors with the jet spray which doesn't seem to be working well, your sister in the kitchen along with mum, grandma and kakak baking kek lapis,
when your mom goes around the whole town looking for a perfect restaurant to book to accomodate your whole family for a glorious dinner,
when you and your family stay home and admire the beautiful fireworks go off in the wee hour of the night,
you'll know that chinese new year is here,
happy chinese new year people

a lesson

hey people, this is something which i think i should post as, well, it's worth posting, just read through. today, around 11, my mum, bro n i went for "brunch", for those who don't get it, it's lunch+breakfast. haha, sorry, not trying to make you feel dumb, hahaha, seriously, i'm not.

Then, as i was sneezing, this guy with a bag full of "premier" tissues came and showed 2 packets to my mom, so she just took out 2 bucks and exchanged it for the 2 packets of tissue. Okay, fine, quite expensive for 2 packets of tissue, i thought but nevermind, i bet he needs it more than us.
What suprised me was that, my mum, asked him whether he had eaten, and offered to buy him lunch. okay, there i was puzzled, first, i thought:
1. how do you know he can't afford lunch?
2. mum, why are you being extra generous to this guy selling tissue?

So she went to order roti canai with filling for him and told him to sit down and eat when the food arrives. Then, he asked whether could takeaway, then my mum said it was okay. Then, i think he went around selling tissues cause he left for quite some time.So my brother and I were asking her why she was being so kind and generous(as in, more than usual) today.

"It's thanksgiving."I thought of turkeys and all, haha, and then we talked about thanksgiving for a while but my brother insisted that she didn't have to chia him but instead just pass him money and he'd buy whatever he wants.

"Sidney, and Shannon, have I ever told you that your grandpa(dad's) sold eggs everyday when he was 11, 12, 13 and so on?"(we nodded)"He went around houses selling eggs and he made one cent for every egg he sold.(1 cent last time during my gp's time was quite big)The money he earned would be used for groceries and meat for that day's meals, he had 8 or so siblings and if he didn't earn enough money, they'd just eat canned chai sin with rice. He'd usually earn more than a dollar or so which is enough for meat with vege for his family."

"Your grandpa was a student of St. Thomas' and they had built new toilets. The students had to pay a cent for every visit and after 2 weeks, your gp left school because he refused to pay 1 cent for every new toilet visit, and either tried to hold his urine or visit the old, dirty toilets. He didn't rela pay that money and thought that it'd be better to use it for food for his big family, he was laughed and teased by classmates(late teens already) and so he left school, don't look down on him as that time he could read, speak and write proper English."
Maybe 1 cent at that time was really really big but wow, what a shock, leaving school for 1 cent each day?My mum continued saying an old late family friend always remembered my gp for his trifty and spendthrift attitude, since young, as he was a teacher at that school and realized that my gp as a student never, or at least tried his hardest not to pay for the toilet visits..

My mum, siblings and parents didn't live a rich life, but instead perhaps what we consider moderate or poor. My gp(mum's) owned a small car and almost everyday to pri. sch, my mom with her elder sister(2 out of 4 only as their much older and the 2 younger siblings were still small) would push the car to get the engine running again. My gp then had another car after selling the previous car but the "new one" was 2nd hand as well, not long after the purchase they still had to do the same.

My mum asked whether we had every heard her dad, our gp talk about having been to many houses in Bampfylde area cause he was painting their walls for RM 5 a day, he would bring a huge tengkat with as much rice as possible and another container above it for the vege, packed by his mum. My mum said, if she could, she would like us to experience what, well, moderate or poor families eat as meals for a few days or perhaps a week, so that we could experience, understand and most importantly be grateful.

I was thinking about what my mum was saying and, she was right, compare our lives now to the generations above us, think about it, aren't our lives better now?

Tell me, how many of us has ever washed our own shoes? How many of us wash the dishes after meals on a DAILY BASIS?How many of us do chores, have only hand-me-downs, eat plain rice and vege only for meals? My point is that now, children nowadays, all of us, yes including me definitely, take many things for granted..What do you think? Are you the ones I'm refering to, if you are, then join the club, and hopefully we'll get out of it soon too.

Lesson for the day:
be grateful and thankful for what we are..
And not be spoilt brats..

Face reality guys.

Shannon, finishing another post.

Thorugh the eyes of an ex

Yes, i have an ex..

An ex-air hostess as an aunty! hahaha, caught you guys there eh?Seriously, do I look like the type who had boyfriend? Nope, I didn't think so too.

Well, we had this conversation in the car on the way home the other day and I thought it was rather interesting so I'll post it up:

Just a breif intro, my aunt worked as an air hostess (with her good looks) for quite a long time then finally quit and settled down with my uncle in kuching, they had kids like in their 30+ years lar.

Btw, don't really remeber the convo, most probably changed abit so yeah.
A for auntie lar, I'm lazy

A:Haiya, so tiring, having 3 kids is not easy. Shannon, remember, when you grow up, don't have kids late or else you'd regret like me. When you're quite old they're still very young. (sighs)
Me:But then you got to be an air hostess and travel halfway around the world! You enjoyed life a lot ler.
A:Yealah, those were the days. Sometimes I also traveled with your uncle, Las Vegas, Tokyo .....It was so fun, with the high salary again!(she worked with s'pore airlines)
Me:Auntie, last time in your time, airplanes are sort of a luxury for rich people right? Not so common like nowadays(airasia-now everyone can fly)
A:Yeah.
Me:Wow, you get to fly on almost a daily basis. It must have been an honour hor?
A:Yeah, all the air hostess and air hosts are all very poise, elegant and good looking, like models.. All above 5"7, slim, "shapy"..Not like now, some of the air hosts are shorter than the air hostess, you know, they're suppose to help you with your baggage, if they're shorter than you, how can they do that?
Me: (i laughed, i could see her point)But i guess the price you apid for travelling around the world for so long is that your kids are still small lar..
A:Yealor, but I enjoyed those years of my service as an air hostess.

Don't remember much of the conversation, but i have a point to make here..
malaysia, our country, fortunately and unfortunately practises discrimination>>you know, they pick looks for air crew and all, unlike in America or other countries. For job applicants, you cannot discriminate because they're fat or whatsoever, make judgement solely on their talents and skills in that job, or else they have the right to sue you till you're bankrupt! So yeah, that's my point for this post.

Do comment, thats all for now.
:) Shannon

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?

Haha, was just thinking of a title and this reality show name came up to me..you guys should watch it, it's sort of brain humour, like u need to think to understand the joke, not like stupid jokes so yeah, haha!

Let's start with the ones i can remember...

(girl walks past with v short pants revealing her sexy, skinny thighs)
Girl 1:Oh my god!
Girl 2:Oh damn, anorexia!

Boy 1:Hey, can I touch your hair?(to boy 2 who has mushroom style hair)

Girl 1:Hey, girl 2, what time u going home?
me :Now i guess.
Girl 1:Okay, I'll follow you down, since you're my good friend and you're going to China tomorrow.
Boy 1:(appears at door) Eh, Girl 1, aren't you going down?
Girl 1:You following my car today is it?
Boy 1:Yeah.
Girl 1:Okay, bye Shannon!(walks away with boy 1..)

Girl 1:Eh, you know ar, boy 1 wears his pants when he bathes you know!
Girl 2:how you know?(girl 1 continue explaining n this is WHEN u can use ur imagination.....haha)
Girl 1:He say it's weird bathing with pants on...

Haha, yes, these lines i heard in real life..I hope you find them humorous too, if u don't then oh well!

That's all i got for now, tata!

Manila manila

I have recently traveled to Manila for..3/4 nights. It was rather enjoyable, and my parents and I were following a tour so we didn't need to find good eateries for lunch or hustle and bustle to get a cab so yeah, you get my point:D

My first night in Manila was a VERY bad impression..cause we arrived rather late at Clark Airport, like a small budget airport near Manilla and our tour guide was there waiting with his van. It took us around 2 hours to reach Manila and our hotel-Manila Pavillion.

You see, almost every hotel in Manila, has A CASINO IN IT. I could see in the casino and slot machines a bit when I reached the hotel cause the it was glass walls. It seemed...less fancy than I sorta expected out of a casino but of course, who am I to judge?Perhaps I watch too many movies which make the casinos super extravagant and luxurious..perhaps so..haha

So we reached the hotel around 10 or so, and we got our room. The shower was not exactly working, a very weak pressure. So I decided to bathe in the early morn, when I tried the shower for the second time(I was outside the bathtub), The pipes were sounding and gurgling like your stomachs when you're hungry(yes, this is when you use your imagination)and then the shower came on with a rather high pressure, like a normal shower but....

THE WATER WAS brown.Like seriously, it was brown and disgusting..We complained to room service and we were given a diff room and fortunately, the shower could function prop. :D

SO the next day we departed early to Rizal Park n the city where a monument was built to appreciate Jose Rizal, a national hero's "jasa" but the weather was hot so we just wanted to leave..

Besides that, we also visited this "city within the walls", it has a term in tagalok(their language, like "bm") but i dun rmb..It was built by the spanish, its some sort of fort which holes to place canons, like wow rite? THey fort was built by the spanish and they themselves live inside, defending themselves from the filipinos. If my history is wrong, please forgive me, u can go research on the web urself! haha

<<<the fort

I remember this other v significant place where we visited. It's a memorial place for
all the americans and filipino soldiers who died in the war, Manila American Cemetery and Memorial.
It was so beautiful, very hilly and huge patches of ground were covered with green, mowed grass and white crosses were placed in orderly rows, alphabetically. The crosses and patches of lawn(they were divided by roads for cars to drive on)went on and on and they were so neat, and big trees were planted here and there, providing shade and the landscaping was just simpy amazing. Imagine.
The bodies of the soldiers aren't there but it is to remember those who died in the war.
Trani limestone piers within the hemicycles are inscribed the names of 36,282 of the Missing who gave their lives in the service of America and who rest in unknown graves. Carved in the floors are the seals of the American states and its territories. The chapel, a tall stone structure enriched with sculpture and mosaic, stands near the center of the cemetery. In front of it on a wide terrace are two large hemicycles with rooms at each end.
The two rooms at the end of the two hemicycles had mosaic maps of the war. It showed the army force, arrows pointing to where they went, us navy, and they were all made in mosaic!
The whole place was beautiful and if you're going to Manila, make effort to go there as it is serene, peaceful, unique and rather worth going, to me

i am BACK(p1)

hello, people! I am utterly, terribly, very, totally SORRY. I know, I know..I haven't updated in ages! no millenniums! It's been 1,2,3,4.............FIVE weeks since I've last updated..haha, sorry, lately, the most major thing going on was EXAMS! glad it's over, I can finally..
1. sleep (as in the type of sleep where i can dream and not think about tomorrow's paper)
2. play sports (i've been skipping badminton cause i lack time to study..)
3. watch tv(MORE, hahaha)
4. blog??(i've just been lazy, haha)
Hmm...lets do it in an orderly order..haha

exams
exams were ok, hard? i don't know, i'll let the rest of the form 1 to judge...I'm very happy that the school sorta split the exams up to 2 diff weeks, giving us the weekend to study. The last day was the..."worst" cause ot was KH, PM and PSK.

F.Y.I If you don't have a reality check, all those subjects need our(students) undivided attention to rmb all those terms, nilai, etc. I spent 1 hour stupidly memorizing nilais i did not need to memorize for moral...swt rite? haha. SO the consequences was that i didn't study for PSK and only on the same day so my expectations for PSK...will not be too high..

so far, have gotten some papers back..equally satisfying, haha. my lowest is BM, oh yeah, that reminds me of something but i'll write about it lastly..

AFTER exams
it's sorta normal, i just don't need to like study till 9, 10..so yeah

others
well,i promised to blog about my trip to Manilla wuite long ago as i have been busy and lazy so yeah, it'll be a totally no pic post cause we didn't bring along a camera. haha.

ms elaine, our english teacher wants us to make a film during her lessons for the rest of the year which is what, 3 weeks? hahahaha

for bm, ckg joey wants us to play games on the 2nd last week which 1) needs thinking skill 2)bm skill and 3)teamwork. she says that we don't have all that so yeah.....our last week will be spent watching SAW!! a horror movie which i do not know until they mention, most probably revolves around a chainsaw eh? hahahaha

blog-reading teacher
btw, people, CIKGU JOEY, a teacher from lodge who enjoys giving us uji diris and making us copy 50, 100, 200 and 1000 times of mistakes is out there! as in in the cyber world! haha, hi cikgu :D So everyone please beware, ESPECIALLY students from 1B, C and D, do not write anything bad about this teacher..........or else..you know..

will continue next time

bm oral!?

i detest, hate, dislike doing my bm oral DURING HOLIDAYS! gee..yes, you can put the blame one me. Me and my stupid mouth which opened to VOLUNTEER to find the script for my group, yes, i volunteered, isn't it like putting workload on my own shoulders? crazy a? And whenever i mention about the oral script SOME PEOPLE from my group will NOT listen and keep saying that finding the script is MY responsibility...sigh

Well, at least i FINALLY got one, i wrote it..our last option was JERAT from sehijau warna daun...-.- Now, i just need to contact my group, fix up a time and day to meet up n practice, and hopefully be prepared in...one week's time..sigh. VERONICA, CHRISTOPHER, JASON N HUANG WEE, pls contact me ASAP. we seriously need to fix up a date n place for oral...sigh. yes HUANG WEE, i finally got a script. But like seriously, Ckg Joey actually planned out this oral thingy like months ago, literally. It was delayed because of the M.O.E format thingy, thank you guys for delaying it! And after months and months, my group finally got a script..I'm all worried and everything about this oral thingy and i think i'm going to crack, no, not DO crack, just CRACK...

any good hearted samaritan out there? help me contact chris, vero, jason n huang wee, please! thanks loads..

Sorry seems to be the hardest word...

Dear a friend of mine, if you're reading this..

I'm awfully sorry, I apologize
I should have known, I should have knew
That you're sensitive and we shouldn't have done what we did-
Pass the line, push the limits

May some of you find this post "emo" whatsoever
This post is mainly for one to read, mainly for her
I may not be a good "poet" but it'll have to do
As I'm not Shakespeare nor William Butler Yeats...-.-

Is started a joke, a game, as it always does
In the end, instead of laughter, we get tears
We're really sorry ,we couldn't understand that
you can't exactly differentiate joke and serious issue

We didn't mean to hurt you
As serious as we were, playing along with the joke
Teasing and insulting, not knowing whether being serious ourselves
Well, one thing is for sure, we're sorry

I cannot make a poem right now as all I can say is that I'm sorry.
